Marcel’s Green Soap Shower Gel Mimosa & Blackcurrant – Lovely Freshness

Marcel's Green Soap Shower Gel Mimosa & Blackcurrant

The rabbit is back with another shower gel! 🐰

Well, maybe not as soft and fluffy as Marcel’s Green Soap Shower Gel Argan & Oudh, but still lovely.

For whatever reason, I wasn’t as thrilled with the smell of Marcel’s Green Soap Shower Gel Mimosa & Blackcurrant at first. It wasn’t bad, just… I don’t know. Maybe I was expecting something different. But I couldn’t smell much. Not until I tried it in the shower.

Ingredients

Marcel’s Green Soap Shower Gel Mimosa & Blackcurrant is 100% vegan with 96% natural ingredients, and 99% of them are biodegradable. Free of microplastics, colourants, PEGs, and EDTA as indicated by the brand.

According to ingredient checkers, everything looks pretty good, except for fragrances. Those may be irritating to the skin for some people. Not sulfate-free. Thus, it’s deemed unsafe for fungal acne, oily, and sensitive skin.

Here’s the ingredient list:

Aqua, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Chloride, Cocoglucoside, Glyceryl Oleate, Sodium Benzoate, Parfum, Guar Hydroxylpropyltrimonium Chloride, Glycol Distearate, Citric Acid, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Tocopherol, Hydrogenated Palm Glycerides Citrate, Hexyl Cinnamal, Limonene, Hydroxycitronellal

Basically, this shower gel is just like Marcel’s Green Soap Shower Gel Argan & Oudh, which I tried before this one. Apart from the scent.

Smell and Consistency

Marcel’s Green Soap Shower Gel Mimosa & Blackcurrant has a lovely and fresh scent, but it took me a bit to get used to it. Yeah, the smell is nice and it’s not overwhelming or irritating, but I just wasn’t a fan at first. After using it for a while, I realized that I do enjoy it. However, due to its freshness and energizing effect, it would probably be more fitting for summer or spring rather than winter, which is when I was trying it out. I do suspect that my lack of fondness for the scent was likely because I was quite smitten with Marcel’s Green Soap Shower Gel Argan & Oudh.

The consistency of Marcel’s Green Soap Shower Gel Mimosa & Blackcurrant is quite runny. It’s not thick. Doesn’t matter much to me, but I do prefer that over something overly thick like jelly or something. Maybe it’s just that dosing it properly might be trickier, but I am also prone to using more product in general. As in… I’m often overdoing it and could probably achieve great results with less. 👀

Packaging

The packaging is 100% recycled plastic bottle including the cap, which can be recycled again. The brand has refills with less plastic, but those options weren’t available at the store I bought it from.

Marcel’s Green Soap shower gels come in bottles of 300 ml and 500 ml. I got the 300 ml bottle of Marcel’s Green Soap Shower Gel Mimosa & Blackcurrant, which is perfect for trying it out.

Upright bottle so no leaky business. It would run too easily if it were upside down all the time. But when I think about it… Maybe it would be beneficial to have a dispenser for this type of runny product. And for better portion control. That could be easily achieved with refills and whatever container you want to use for this kind of product.

Price

Marcel’s Green Soap Shower Gel Mimosa & Blackcurrant is decently priced in my opinion. It is cheaper to buy from the brand’s website directly, however, the shipping costs might make it more expensive depending on where you’re at.

Here’s a quick price rundown that is true in January 2025:

Price at Nula shop: €6,50
Price at Marcel’s Green Soap website: €4,99

Where It’s Made

The Netherlands.

Summary

🟢 96% natural ingredients.
🟢 99% biodegradable ingredients.
🟢 100% vegan.
🟢 Bottle and its cap are made of recycled plastic and can be reused or recycled again.
🟢 No microplastics, colourants, PEGs, and EDTA.
🟢 Lovely fresh and energizing scent.
🟢 Nice to use and didn’t dry my skin out.

🔴 Packaging is plastic. Great that it’s recycled, but would be ideal not to have plastic at all.
🔴 Refillable, but refills aren’t available locally for me at least. Maybe you’ll have more luck with that.
🔴 Would be cool to see 100% natural and biodegradable ingredients, but since it doesn’t have any harmful ingredients, it’s alright.
🔴 Not sulfate-free. May potentially irritate sensitive, oily, and fungal acne prone skin. I personally did not face any of these issues when using the product.

Overall, Marcel’s Green Soap Shower Gel Mimosa & Blackcurrant is a lovely option to keep clean, fresh and energized.

Would I Buy It Again?

Very likely.
